💝 Your affirmation for the weekend

Creativity is a human act. It belongs to everyone.
Regardless of whether:
the art you produce is considered “good” by contemporary standards.
you choose to monetize.
your brain tries to convince you you’re not “worthy” of being called an artist.
It’s never been a question of whether you’re “allowed” to create.
You’re allowed to make art for whatever reason you want to. And you’re allowed to call yourself a creator or an artist because you create.
Everything you create deserves to be called art. (Yes, it really does.)

🤲 What I’m creating this week
Hey! I’m Mel, founder here at Joyful Creators Club.
I’ll be honest with y’all: this week has been frustrating for me, on a creative level. I tend to get impatient when I don’t immediately get the hang of something — I found myself in that spot this week while trying to code part of the Clubhouse (our upcoming members-only area).
I cried. I wallowed. I was so burned out from work that I was in bed for 2 days.
Thankfully, as I write this, I’m in a better place. My community has really come through for me. I got my first short story commission this week from a dear friend (and Joyful’s first subscriber!), and I’m having a ton of fun with it. Another friend invited me to a creative workshop on processing grief through thread at a local arts center tomorrow, which I’m really looking forward to.
I even managed to spend an evening this week at my sewing machine, repurposing old fabrics and pillows into a draft excluder. No patterns, no tutorials, just rulers and vibes!
What’d y’all think of this week’s prompts? What would you like to see more of? Sound off in the replies.
Until next weekend — stay crafty!
