đ Your affirmation for the weekend
When creativity feels like work, I can reconnect with the joy I feel when making.

If you monetize your art or create consistently, your creative process may begin to feel like work. It may feel difficult or uninspiring.
But this is true for most things in life, not just creativity. (Remember that old saying, âToo much of a good thing is a bad thingâ?)
If creating starts to feel like a grind rather than a release, take a break for however long you need, and repeat this affirmation to yourself.
If youâre not sure how to reconnect with the joy, ask yourself: âWhat small creative act would feel fun to me right now?â
And then go do that thing! Even if itâs totally unrelated to whatever project youâre working on.

𤲠What Iâm creating this week
Hey! Iâm Mel, founder here at Joyful Creators Club.
This week, I managed to spend an evening on one of my many âjunk journalsâ. Iâm a big fan of collage, especially with bits and pieces that mightâve otherwise been trashed. Gift tags, candy wrappers, fruit stickers â to me, everything has scrapbook potential!
In the interest of sharing our own art, hereâs a snap of one of my all-time favorite spreads, made pre-pandemic from old index cards, newspaper clippings, and pieces from an art magazine:

Iâm thinking about offering a junk journal tutorial / co-creating session soon! What do yâall think? Would you be interested?
(By the way, regular workshops, co-creating sessions, and other events are on the roadmap in the very near future for Joyful! Just gotta find some video-conferencing software that ticks my boxesâŚ)
What about you? What are you making this week? Hit reply and let me know!
If you made it this far, thanks for reading and supporting Joyful â I appreciate you more than you know.
Questions, comments, thoughts to share? You know what to do.
Until next weekend â stay crafty!
